EMASI schools offer a dual program following both the Ministry of Education & Training (MoET) and additional frameworks delivered in English.

The Makerspace technician is responsible to the Managing Director for the facilitation of the Makerspace on the assigned EMASI campus. In this capacity they will work with the IT Senior Group Manager to ensure that each designated Makerspace meets the appropriate safety standards is well maintained and that necessary materials are ordered and stored. The Makerspace Technician works to ensure the successful implementation of Makerspace/STEAM lessons. While they are not a qualified “teacher” they support teachers in the execution of an engaging and dynamic program.

*Responsibilities and Duties:

▪ Work with the team to support an integrated hands on approach to teaching through the Maker Space.

▪ Maintain the Lab software and hardware including computers and 3D printers

▪ Ensure that the Maker Space is well resourced and that all necessary materials are available to support student learning.

▪ Maintain an environment that encourages learning prototyping sharing of ideas productive failure thinking and collaboration.

▪ Assist teachers in technology related projects.

▪ Assist in maintaining reports and statistics that correspond to the Maker Space Labs and to assist in training for teachers in the use of the facility.

▪ Troubleshoot and repair PCs 3D printers and peripherals where applicable.

▪ Teach both basic certification safety and training courses covering all of the lab equipment

▪ Track document maintain inventory and service records and purchase new consumables

▪ Create and maintains in house Standard Operating Procedure documentation for commonly used tasks

▪ Participate in planning meetings monitors space usage numbers and safety measures

▪ Research develop and prototype innovative maker activities and maintain all Maker Space materials tools and equipment including hardware and software.

▪ Duties as assigned by the Managing Director after due consultation.
